Story line recommendations - reviews?

Blistering Barnacles!
If I understand correctly, each storyline roughly corresponds to hardcover release but is separate story line?Rage of Demons - Out of the Abyss, Elemental Evil - Princes of the Apocalypse, and so on.

I've got a new home group going and would prefer to play through Curse of Strahd, Ravenloft series but I don't think it's going to be up group's alley. I suspect thus far they are up for a more traditional course of clobbering monsters and taking their stuff and having fun.

That being said, any suggestions which AL series I should look at? Dmsguild reviews are scant.I like the idea of getting adventures one at a time for 2.99 each rather than shelling out $$ for a book as well.

My 2cp,

If the New Group is largely new to D&D, play a "short" adventure (1-4 levels). By the end, they'll know more and be ready to make teir own characters (or continue) and you can plop down $$ for another adventure. Lost Mines of Phandelver is a decent adventure for noobs. Could use some tweaks, much of which is easily found here and elsewhere. It's not cheap either, so there is that.

If the group is experienced in D&D (or similar RPG games), then maybe stick with DDAL (adventures league) games. Look for reviews of these outside DMGuild.

If you're going to run the DDAL modules, I would probably go with either the DDAL1-X or DDAL2-X lines first. They are the easiest ones to get new players into, as it doesn't have the extra baggage of Madness/non-human racism from DDAL3-X and the player lockout that comes with the DDAL4-X line.
