I was 38 when I was diagnosed with throat cancer. It was a very close call, but after a two-year-long struggle, I made it.
I do remember going to see the oncologist for my chemo treatments and I would look around the waiting room...everyone it seemed, except me, appeared to be at least 60 years old. I mean I was in a room full of elderly people and I sat there bald (lost my hair) and feeling out of place. But at the same time, I felt lucky to be alive and getting the opportunity to get treated.
Once something like this happens in your life, everything changes.
