+Str items for monks?

If a monk wants to wear a monk's belt, are there any good options for +str items without resorting to the (optional) item creation rules?

Gauntlets of Ogre Strength are alright for low-med levels, but are there any non-belt-slot items that give a +4 or better bonus to strength?

It depends, does your DM want to really stick to WOTC created items, or do items created by the rules sastify?

There is no logical reason why you cant have a gauntlet of strength that gives a higher bonus than +2. Of course doing this means you cant have gloves of dex.

See whether your DM will accept "Pants of strength".

How about a Vest of Strength?

Or a ring that cast a Strength buffing spell X times/day.

Items created according to the item creation rules would be possible, but they're my option of last resort. What I'm really looking for are WotC-published items. Is there really no published +4 str item anywhere except for the belt of giant strength?

Well, there is the belt of magnificence from the miniature's handbook, +4 bonus in every stat for a small fortune. :) That'll get you extra AC for both higher Dex and Wis plus more hit points for extra Con, too. All you'd be missing from the monk's belt, I believe then the extra stunning fist.

If you want the best way to get extra Strength... take Leadership and get a spellcaster cohort.

I have a 13th-level warrior type whose 11th-level wizard cohort's starting routine is to cast quickened enlarge person on boss (so as to keep using his special material weapons), and then polymorph boss into a troll or annis hag. Bunches of Str and natural armor!

A lot of DMs refuse to allow leadership because :

-It gives the party more muscle, and by the RAW they do not result in a corresponding increase in encounter ELs

-The DM doesnt want the party to be bigger, including NPCs, for a variety of reasons, most common that they dont want the increased "work"

-Some people abuse it by having a artificer sitting somewhere safe making magic items for the party
