Strange Question re Aspis "monsters"

I am running a "one shot" adventure this weekend revolving around Aspis creatures from the Slave Pit module (I love em, don't ask me why?). I'm just trying to figure out if they eat meat (aka humanoid flesh) or if it would be "logical" for them to do so...or not?

Also, would or could they have any spell casters?

I know I can do whatever I want to...it's D&D, but I just want to make sure it makes since. Thanks for any suggestions or ideas.

They are basically giant, intelligent, anthromorphized ants. Ants eat meat.
