True, but were there even wizards? I thought they were called Magic Users. Then again, there was a list of titles for your magic user depending on what level they were and think sorcerer and wizard were on that list. I'm too lazy to get up off the couch and check.

In 87, the term Mage had replaced Magic-User in AD&D 2e. Mages are generalists, while Wizards could specialize according to a limited number of spheres but gained boons. Level titles had also been dropped.

But the show's D&D is AD&D 1e. So, yes, you are correct, a Magic-User level 9 is called a Sorcerer. It's not a mistake.

I thought young Will Byers looked completely CGI. I guess they had to have an actual person and just CGIed his face to look more like young Noah Schnapp's.

This interview with the Duffer bros confirms that opening sequence with young Will in the Upside Down was a CGI face swap. Apparently Weta Workshop here in NZ did it!

The Satanic Panic stuff was really more in Season 4 with Jason. He even goes on a rant about how he’s read that D&D can make you lose touch with reality, etc. He claims Eddie’s lost himself in the game and is killing people as a result.

The stuff with Dustin and Andy is more just typical jock bullying nerd stuff. It’s also meant to show that Dustin, who’s always been the positive, happy-go-lucky heart of the party, is suffering some serious PTSD from losing Eddie. (This is confirmed by the Duffer bros in the interview I linked to above.) We haven’t seen that beautiful Gaten smile yet.

(One could probably argue that Andy is grieving the loss of Jason and is taking it out on Dustin as well.)

Actually, Mike specifically referenced innate spells and said that a sorcerer was not like a wizard.

This did not happen till 3e circa 2000.
