Without a doubt the best part of the series. I wish he had a bigger part in the finale.

Wow. So the Duffer Brothers took a look at Return of the King’s multiple endings and said “hold my beer!”

The main plot finished about an hour in, the there was an entire hour of endings! :D
I mean it is a 45 hour narrative. Then again I also felt Return of the King had an appropriate amount of endings for the scale of the narrative (and size of ensemble).

Personally I was totally there for all the endings, but I just wish I had known beforehand, because, seeing another hour of runtime left, I didn't really properly engage with the action climax, expecting it to just be a prelude to the real climax somehow. I'm glad I didn't see it in the theater or I might well have likely popped out for a bathroom during the death of Vecna or something.

So are a lot of TV series! In fact most are longer!

Sure. Personally, I started to get bored. 5 minutes, maybe 10 would have been more than enough for me. I was looking at my watch after 15. After an hour I was just glad it was over--though I did really enjoy the D&D-themed end credits art pieces.

Each to their own, I guess!

After watching the finale, my general pre-finale view is solidified: It was fun, but lacked the range that made the early seasons so great. The "human moments" were all annoyingly similar and trite: "I need affirmation and reassurance now!" "OK, you're awesome! You've got this!"

Rinse and repeat.

Still, solidly entertaining. And I actually liked the long post-climax treatment and wish more long-running shows would do that. I mean, when you're talking 5 seasons, 45 minutes of "how things turned out after" makes sense.

Oh, did anyone catch the D&D faux pas from a few episodes back? They said to Will, "You're not a wizard, more of a sorcerer"...and this was set in 1987, still AD&D, when the term was either used as a synonym for magic-user or, more technically, a level title for magic-user (8th, according to a quick search). I don't think the sorcerer--as a class--made its appearance until 3E. Shame, Duffer Brothers, Shame!!!

How to tell us you haven’t read the whole thread without telling us you haven’t read the whole thread!

Cool - so worth doubling up on what Morrus already said.

p.s. It is ok not to read the whole thread.
You don't even need to read the whole thread - it's right there on the first page!

Sorry, it's just mildly irritating when a latecomer to the conversation comes in and explains something we've all already discussed ad nauseum.
