I've been reading through the Street Fighter rpg books from White Wolf....and miss playing that game....it had a pretty good combat system.....I'm thinking about making a conversion of that game over to d20.....maybe with an original (and more fantasy oriented) campaign setting......would anyone be interested in maybe starting a conversion site about this???

Nice premise on that game, but it didn't fly for me when I played. I noticed that some of the powers are extremely unbalanced, especially when use din conjunction with other powers. I've witnessed newly created, carefully min-maxed PCs take out World-Class opponents on their first or second tournament. And tournament fighting is the basis of the game; without it, it's a lame excuss for a superhero game.

So I have to give it a thumbs down, though some of my friends seem to enjoy it.

A more balanced d20 version, however, would be cool, if done right. Like I said, the premise had potential.

I bought the book way back when (the basic one, the original post implies that there were others, but I've never seen them), but never played. It was an interesting system, but it just didn't work for me. I liked the premise though.

Yeah...I agree that some of the powers were a little overpowered...I did still enjoy the game.......

do you have any ideas for converting to d20 at all Agamon?....anything you'd like to see done a certain way or not done at all??

Streetfighter was the only WhiteWolf game that I ever really liked...

So you know where I'm coming from, I have a huge variety of experience with rpgs over the past 25 years with some of my favorites being Call of Cthulhu, Champions and Ars Magica.

Streetfighter had a fairly simplified version of the storyteller system, and a pretty brilliant, card-based combat system.

We playined a straight StreetFighter campaign, then a DarkStalkers inspired campaign, and also a WWII superhero-like game.

Much fun!

I'm not sure if it's worth converting over to d20, but I did like the game.

I ran a short campaign and have to agree it is one of the better Storyteller games.

We developed animal fighting styles that modified traditional kicks and punches.

Still have all the books and old characters and campaign notes on file.

It's been a few years since I played, and I don't even own the game, so I can't offer too much in the way of helpful advice, I'm afraid.

What I would do is turn the powers into skills. Each power had a rating, IIRC, and that could be directly translated into a d20 skill rating. Any powers that don't have ratings could be turned into feats (though I don't think there were any). Create other feats that give the PC a boost in one area or another. With little or no modification, some modern d20 games have a lot of feats that could be usable in a Street Fighter game.

Keep the prerequisites from the WW game, and maybe put a limit on how many points that can be put on a power, depending on the PCs level.

Just some random thoughts.

I have that game and it was actually really well done. I normally don't care much for WW games but this one was really fun to play. It would be cool to see a d20 version.

A bit odd, no, that everyone talks about converting the White Wolf game, but nobody has mentioned converting directly from the video game! ;)
