Strength Draining attacks and magic resistance

Question for you.

I play a Shadowdancer, I have just got my Shadow and we are up against Illithids.

Does the illithids natural Spell resistance work against the Shadow's Strength draining ability?

Strength Drain isn't a spell, it's a supernatural ability. If it doesn't have a caster level, it isn't subject to Spell Resistance. Make sense?

On a side note does anyone think a creature with 19 hp is more a hindrance than a help at 10th level (the minimum level to get it) ? Especially considering you lose xp when it dies...

"Why do I suddenly think that I should call off my shadow and use my restoration magic to give them their strength back? Of course, they're superior life forms, and I'm just a groveling worm. Silly me. Can't wait to serve their freakishly oversized brain they have as leader."

An incorporeal creature with 19 hp is great if the enemies can't hit it. I'm careful about which combats I let my shadow take part in. And it's easy for him to get away from combat - he just has to drop into the ground!

Hit points also don't matter when there's no combat going on. A shadow is useful for scouting because he can stick his head through walls and doors. :)
