I'm playing a Warblade-Master of nine, and I'm going to take Strike of Righteous vitality as my second 9th level maneuver.

Well, at least that was my intention, but my DM doesn't like a Heal spell every 2 rounds.

Opinions?

As I see it, this is a 9th level maneuver that casts Heal and allows you one strike. Given that Heal is a 6th level spell, and Mass Heal is a 9th level spell (with better range and more targets), I'm not convinced this maneuver is unbalanced.

How often (effectively) can you use the manuever? Once per two rounds? That might be where it is unbalanced. And can you use it out of combat? Strike a friend and then Heal him? Etc.

How can you take it? it has a requisite of 3 Devoted Spirit maneuvers.

The target you strike must have a different alignment from you and must "pose a threat to you or you allies in a direct, immediate way"

I thought that it only healed 100HPs? I didn't think it was like the heal spell exactly...

Just tell the DM he's not allowed to deal more than 100HPs of damage every 2 rounds ;)

I'ts not only the hp.

The Heal spell also cures "ability damage, blinded, confused, dazed, dazzled, deafened, diseased, exhausted, fatigued, feebleminded, insanity, nauseated, sickened, stunned, and poisoned".

It sounds fine to me. The ability to cast a 6th level spell under limited circumstances at 17th level doesn't sound over-powered to me.

After all, if you actually wanted to use strike of righteous vitality every other round, you would be limited to attacking once per round instead of getting your full attacks (or instead of using diamond nightmare blade or time stands still). You would have pretty good defense but no offense to speak of. Also, the inability to use the heal effect outside of combat is a pretty big limitation.

If that is a pretty good defense for a fighter type class, I can't imagine what a very good defense would be.

Just ask your Wiz ally to summon a monster to attack you.

No. You can still full attack when you recover. It's a swift action followed by either
- A melee attack
OR
- A standard action used to do nothing but, say, a flourish of the weapon.

A melee attack can be part of a full attack action.
