Suggestions for unique magic items to hand out?

I'm in my "give the PC's a special unique magic item" mode. So I'm browsing books looking for items to give out. Maybe I can get some good ideas here. I like players finding items beneficial for their class. I want to hear, "Oh cool! That would be perfect for my character!" when they find a good haul. I know most players will say that for any item, even if the player is a wizard and the group finds a Holy Avenger sword :p

So what unique items under 100k would be great/fun for the following (non evil) pc's:

Minortaur Fighter (prefers 2 handed swords)
Dwarf Monk
Human Cleric (prefers mace & shield)
Half-Elf Sorcerer

Any kind of interesting weapons or armor? I also like giving items that don't necessarily do damage or protect, but are still usefull toys.

I have the 2e Magica Encyclopedia books and I still use things from it converted into 3e (I play 3.5). I have most of the 3e WotC books. I can refer back to these if you give suggestions of items from both 2e & 3e.

Monk's Belt (DMG) make any monk happy, Rods of Metamagic (DMG) will make the sorcerer smile, clerics like Strands of Prayer Beads of Karma (DMG), and minotaurs...uh...if he used axes I'd say to convert the Axe of the Emperors (a sentient axe that liked minotaurs from the 2E Encyclopedia Magica), but maybe just give him a big shiny sword

Edit: Oh wait, these aren't unique, but I'd still be ecstatic to find them if I was any of those players

Minortaur Fighter (prefers 2 handed swords)
Two handed sword that casts maze on a confirmed critical.
Dwarf Monk
Belt that gives Earth Mastery (MM ability).
Human Cleric (prefers mace & shield)
A bane mace that works against an appropriate enemy of the faith and gives a negative level to anyone of another faith who uses it. When used in conjunction with the shield, both the shield and the mace get a +1 synergy (or whatever) bonus.
Half-Elf Sorcerer
A headband of comprehending languages.

This isn't something that will be beneficial to any particular class, but I had a character "liberate" this item from an NPC who was composed entirely of Chaos. He was a morphing, insubstantial being that lived in a hut that had random rooms through each doorway and the walls painted themselves when they felt like it, etc...

The only way we got away from him was to begin to write down physics problems and math problems and alphabets with our own chalk and ink... eventually we drew him into a triangle on the floor and began with a geometry lesson that wigged him out enough to let us escape.

My Character "noticed" a bowl as we were leaving and picked it up and dropped it in his pack. Turned out the design in the bottom of the bowl would order itself or mess itself up based on proximity to strong lawful or chaotic alignments and power. It would even kind of color code itself along the good and evil axis. It was really nothing special, but it is still one of the coolest "unique" magic items any of my characters have possessed.

That's really weird you mentioned that item for the Monk. He's a Dwarven monk that took Earth related feats from Races of Stone and is all about the earth element. I didn't even concider an item like that. Great idea. Earth Mastery is just like the Earth Adept feat from RoS.

I got some great suggestions so far. I plan to use some of these already. And by "unique", I just meant something other than standard items like gloves of dex or resistant boosting gear. Thanks guys. Keep em coming if anyone thinks of more stuff.

Well, the minotaur should get something that plays up his minotaur-ness. Howzabout a pair of magic horn-caps (uses helmet/headband slot) that let him make a free Bull Rush attempt whenever he hits with his horn gore attack?

I once gave out a sword named Shastruth that was a 7th level evoker. It took the wielder's actions to use its spells, however. It was really cool, and not really overpowered since the party was several (3-7) levels higher than that (though the pc who ended up with it was one of the lower level guys in his group).

I'd give the monk something to boost his AC even higher- that's really a high-level monk's only recourse.

Hmm, a rod of quickening would be bitchin for a sorcerer.

One really cool thing for a cleric would be a scroll of some new, unique cleric scrolls that she could then pray for (assuming successful Spellcraft checks to learn them).

Minortaur Fighter (prefers 2 handed swords)

Horseshoes of Speed? ;)

Dwarf Monk

Forged crystal brass knuckles that give him slashing or bludgeoning damage, and bypass DR/Adamantine

Human Cleric (prefers mace & shield)

A mace that lets the cleric burn a Turn to confirm a critical hit vs. undead

Half-Elf Sorcerer

Ring/Rod/Wonderous item that has imbeded int it a paticular spell(s). While wearing it, he may cast it as if it were a spell known.
