Summoning an aasimar?

First Post
I remember reading that it is possible to summon other creatures such as Aasimars. I want to swear it was in a Dragon issue. Does anyone know what issues they talked about summoning tieflings...aasimars...etc...?

The reason I'm interested is because I was looking to see if I could summon a pseudonatural versions instead...

Thanks,
Sterling

You can - take the Alienist class. :p

oooo...just wait until I finish my research on a global Tasha’s Hideous Laughter epic spell.

For now I'll just have to settle for my voodoo doll...

moritheil, if you feel like the room is spinning, its because I threw the doll into the dryer.
:p

Planar Binding and Planar Ally would work. They're not Summoning spells, though, they're Calling spells.

True, but be aware that many DMs are not prepared to customize your ally with the class levels or templates of your choice. Planar Binding is quite powerful without allowing that.

It'd be perfectly legal; class levels would count against the limit for maximum hit dice. The main objection I can see is it slowing down play unless the player already has the called critter's stats already worked out.

I don't know about it being perfectly legal to slap templates and class levels on in general for conjurations. Usually if you use gate or something to call a creature with more HD than the base entry, you simply get the HD-advanced version, not one customized with skills, gear, and levels you happen to need.

From planar ally:
By casting this spell, you request your deity to send you an elemental or outsider (of 6 HD or less) of the deity’s choice

Of course, both planar ally and planar binding allow you to call specific individuals, but depending on how weird your class/template combo is, it might take a while to research that.
