Hm. How about making it a Dwarven Waraxe / Handaxe?
(Though the Dwarfen thing does not fit. Perhaps a Greataxe would be better...)

hand axe to battle axe? and be able to throw it like a hand axe (returning? distance? throwing? distance?)

I choose shadow blade due to the plane of shadow. Seemed appropriate due to its lightless nature. Feel free to choose whatever variant name you like.
