Sunrod, oh sunrod, where for arth thou sunrod...

Well, the title says it all! ;)

I was looking through the DMG and PHB for the activation time on a sunrod and I can't find it! I thought I remember in 3.0, it was a move-equivalent action. But I checked the sunrod description, the lighting section, and the description of actions in the PHB and its just not there. Now there used to be an extended list of actions and their duration (ie. lighting a torch is a full round action that provokes an AoO) in the back of the DMG, but that didn't make the cut in 3.5.

Any ideas? Should I just keep it a move action?

I didn't find it in my read but I'd leave it a MEA. I can't see it being a free action and for the expense and from the description it should be easier to use than a normal torch.

Actually, the title say 'why are you sunrod', which probably isn't what you mean. :D

glass.

Maybe I wanted to see how long it took to activate myself.

Err...um...nevermind.

Thanks for the comments. I think a move action is probably about right since I don't see anything in the FAQ or in the RAW.

I would gues it would work like a neon stick- snap and there it goes. i would say standard action...

Sunrod: This 1-foot-long, gold-tipped, iron rod glows brightly when struck. It clearly illuminates a 30-foot radius and provides shadowy illumination in a 60-foot radius. It glows for 6 hours, after which the gold tip is burned out and worthless.

So its a metal rod you bang on the ground and then it starts glowing. To light a torch with a tindertwig is a standard action. I thought this would be one step easier.
