Superman; Metropolis and Smallville Destroyed

How often have Smallville and Metropolis been destroyed, in recent years? I am asking because I suspect it happens a lot but I don't follow the books the way I once did. They get a lot of damage in the film, but that is not new is my point.

AFAIK a lot of the fights in Smallville happen in some non-specific locale "outside of town", fields and such, but I never watched a great deal of the show.

The most recent Superman comics I'm familiar with are Grant Morrison's, like Infinite Crisis and Superman All-Star, very little of which take place in Metropolis.

I don't know about destroyed, but there have certainly been a lot of big superpowered fights in Metropolis which would presumably have done a lot of damage. They don't tend to dwell on collateral damage in comic books (unless it's The Authority or something). The Fall of Metropolis and Death of Superman are the two examples which spring to mind, but the city has been invaded by Darkseid's legions, taken over by Braniac, rebuit by Luthor, all sorts of things.

Either way, I don't think Smallville gets destroyed that often. It is a farm community, surrounded by fields, and other than having Superboy in it, there's not much reason for villains to do anything to it at all. And if there are villains, well, it isn't hard to get the fight out of the populated area, when all it is is a wide spot in the road.

And, through the Gold and Silver Ages I don't think outright destroying Smallville was the sort of thing they'd have done - so, we'd be talking pretty much modern events only.
