Survivor 10/30 with spoilers

Very pissed off they didn't get rid of Jon. He is one of the most annoying players ever.

Osten has to be the biggest pu$$y to ever play the game. Did you notice they didn't show an interview with him after he left?

I love Rupert, but you know he's never going to make it to the final. Nobody will be dum enough to let him in the game for long.

I believe Sandra will win.

OH MY GOD!!!! I love survivor. I have watched every show since the 2nd season and I never thought that I would find a survivor thread here. YEAH!!!!!

Now that thats done.

I hated Osten, the wimp made me mad. I wish he would have been gone a long time ago.

Jon, although an ass, seems to have some sort of a knack at the game. He is weak, a jackass, rude to people and always seems to be getting into an argument with someone. He has stabbed people in the back 2 times, yet he is still there? I dont get it but there must be a damn strong alliance somewhere that we dont know about. Maybe with him and Sandra?

I dont mind anyone from the Morgan tribe, but none stands out as one I really like either. Andrew is okay, the rest kind of blend in together.
Drake, however, I love Krista, as good as she did holding the bags of weight up a few challenges ago was awesome. My favorite is Rupert, He wont win...he might as well as a big f%#king target on his chest, and another on his back.

I dont mind the new twist, but I wish that they would have had a little less impact. I dont like anyone that has been voted out, I hope its not anyone that belonged in Drake. I would like to see the first girl voted out to come back just because we dont know how she would have impacted the game. And skinny ryan, I liked him. He got the bad end of the stick..

I dont know if there is any room for survivor re-runs on a cable station or a local. I mean who wants to watch it when they already know who wins. Its not like Freinds or ER, they have funny or touching shows that I may want to watch again, but survivor does not seem replayable to me. I understand the concept I just dont think it would work, or draw in ratings.

I am acutally looking forward to the all-star season. I think it will be crazy because everyone knows or atleast understands the others capabilites and if they are trust worthy or not. I think that in the long run Tina could win it....

After having watched the series since it began with the first, I have to say that this is probably the best season since Australia.

Only possible reason I could have for disagreeing with your points is that I really dug the Amazon as well.

Rupert rocks. He's a dead man, but he rocks.

I dont know if there is any room for survivor re-runs on a cable station or a local. I mean who wants to watch it when they already know who wins. Its not like Freinds or ER, they have funny or touching shows that I may want to watch again, but survivor does not seem replayable to me. It's only a re-run if you've seen it before - and even if you know how it will turn out alot of people are like my wife, and read the last chapter of a mysery first. The first season was released on DVD and sold pretty well - even though everyone knew who had one due to the massive media exposure he received.

Now can somebody tell me how Osten lasted as long as he did? And why Jon is still around at all? Rupert may have a target, but he's fostered so many one-on-one personal relationships, as well as being the main meal ticket, that he might be around for quite a while. What he did with Jon in this week's game was beyond brilliant - playing bad cop, then good cop, then NOT voting for Jon. He's now turned his main enemy on the team into an ally. I think the new twist to the game will work to his advantange - since he only had a hand in voting out two of the six.

a few random thread related questions i have to ask

1> i've never seen a survivor thread here either, but "when i built it, you all came," if you guys wanted a survivor thread here on enworld, why didnt you ever make one? just to embarassed to admit to watching tv with vampires or laser pistols? wait ill i start my Gilmore Girls thread.

2> the survivor dvds that exist art just really short clip-fests of the first two seasons. what they really need to do is make "season" sets that include the broadcast as originally aired, plus at least an additional hour (or two?) of footage for EACH episode. plus all their cbs morning show / letterman / online chats and the reunion show as aired on tv. and maybe even with audio commentary by the most popular survivors or winners. how sweet would this be?

3> Why does EVERYONE love Season Two. Survivorutback? Some people I've met say its the frst season they watched, and your first anything is always looked upon fondly, but what is everyone elses excuse? I HATED this season. It didnt have ONE interesting or funny person. IT just disturbs me to think that it was people's favorite.

Back to the show:

Osten survived as long as he did because the Morgans felt they needed him and his "strength" to get past some of the earliest challenges. You could argue that even as recently as last weeks "carry heavy bags" challenge it was true. Osten mighta wussed out at 160, but would skinny Ryan or Lil (or Darrah or Tijuana) been able to hold as much?

Jon survives because he is NO threat. He is one of the DUMBEST schemers to ever play the game. Rupert trusts in his Rupert-Sandra-Christa alliance. So do the girls, I guess because they outnumber Rupert 2-1 for the endgame. Shawn was more of a threat to win a solo-challenge and throw off their voting plans late in the game than Jon was. And since Johnny Fairplay is SUCH a trashtalker, they can be pretty sure the Morgans hate him too and a merge wont matter. To his credit Jon maybe dumb for a schemer, but the schemers NEVER go out early. Even a dumb schemer is worth two naive yokels.

And to me, the only way to fairly balance the effect of the Outcasts, is to do it again when they get down to 6.(or maybe even 4?) That way almost all of them get a 2nd chance at the game.

My real question about the Outcasts is how the rules are worded that this is legal for CBS to do. Whatever odd wording allows this shouldve been questioned by the survivors so they might have seen it coming. I cant believe the rules for the game say "we will tell you the rules as we go"

My real question about the Outcasts is how the rules are worded that this is legal for CBS to do. Whatever odd wording allows this shouldve been questioned by the survivors so they might have seen it coming. I cant believe the rules for the game say "we will tell you the rules as we go"

From what I've been told(and I could be wrong) the rules simply say one major thing on those points. The Producer makes the rules. They can really change ANYTHING they want. It would be VERY interesting if they never actually MERGED until very very late...which is how this is looking.

While not specifically a "Survivor" thread, I've gotten into discussions with others about Survivor on at least two other threads. One was a thread about Reality TV shows, the other was on a What Was the Best Series Finales thread last May. I believe that both of those threads were in ENWorld, although it is possible that one was in the "Rants, Raves and Reviews" forum over on www.randomlingshouse.com gaming board.

And your evaluations of the Osten, Jon and Rupert situations make sense. I'm hoping for a Rupert win myself - but won't rule out Christa, or even Burton if he makes it back into the game.

Rupert all the way, baby. Hell, the guy looks like me and is the best damned survivor in the game so far. He can catch fish, steal shoes, push a cannon through the jungle by himself almost I wasn't actually expecting him to be so damned good when the show first aired, but when he stole the other tribes shoes to trade off for supplies, that was it for me. I hope he wins

As for Osten, I am disappointed in him. I figured he'd be on the of last to leave the game.

Okay I guess I understand a little more about the re play value. I would not get it, but thats just me.

I just did not watch season 1, from what I have seen of season 1, which was very late in the game, I did not like mostly because I hated the last 3 people.
My favortie season was two. I liked the drama, I liked the players, or liked to hate the players.
I also really liked Africa, season 3 because I really liked some of the people and my favorite actually won.
I did not like the amazon. I did not like Hedi or Jenna, I did not like the battle of the sexes. I am really liking this season. Infact this has potential to be the best yet. I think that Rupert is the best on the show yet and if he does not win, it does not matter he will still be the best in my eyes.

A big reason I never thought about posting a survivor thread was because I assumed that most gamers were like my husband and hated reality TV. I mean, Gilmore Girls, Enterprise, all that is still in the DnD genre. Survivor is reality.
(Let me just state that this season my husband is actually sitting down with me and watching it everyweek for the first time, He actually said that he is looking forward to next thursday. He also thinks that Rupert Rocks.)
I assume that their can be any rule changes that the producer wants. Its the same way on Big Brother. The only weird thing is that I have seen some of these people on David Letterman, as losers. So that begs to say that either they did that to throw people off or the people that have been on letterman really did lose. I know I saw Lil.
