SW RPG Question- NJO era

Regarding the new book- The Joiner King (as well assome previous material from the Vong books)
My group was discussing if there should be any changes in acquiring dark force points while using force powers(dark side powers). As the new era Luke states things are based on "Intent" or powers being used on people are relative etc. While not everyone agrees with him, he does begin using dark force powers. And is still perceived as "Good". By most anyway...

Do you think a new system (game mechanic) should be implemented for this? Or... is he just getting more dark force points?

Given what happens to Luke in The Joiner King (spoiler
He does what in d20 terms would be calling on the Dark Side while spending a Force point, and suffers a temporary aging effect
), I'm highly dubious about reworking the Force rules. In addition, Episodes II and III gave us strong suggestions that the Dark Side was a real thing, and not just a "point of view". (This is not necessarily a discontinuity--the 'new idea' of the Force is heavily influenced by a Jedi who lost contact with the Republic shortly after Episode I.) If you want to retain continuity with the EU, I would strongly recommend waiting on the matter until the whole Dark Nest Trilogy is out by the end of the year. The first book, at least, feels like the start of a course correction and continuity fix of some elements.
