Swift Hunter et al.

Corsair

First Post
These feats in Complete Adventurer and Complete Scoundrel allow multiclassed characters to continue advancing class features of their two classes by stacking the levels of two specific classes

Swift Hunter for example allows you to stack your scout and ranger levels to determine your total skirmish bonuses and favored enemy. You won't get the higher level abilities, like camoflage, ranger spellcasting, etc.

What do people think of these feats? Has anyone made much use of them? Has anyone tried cobbling together some other combinations based on the examples?

Yes, they're worth their time. The feat that keeps on giving. That one, in particular, provides a reason to take a level of ranger given the existence of the scout.

The daring outlaw feat makes the swashbuckler worth playing. Previously, it was essentially a 3 lv class. Now, there is actually reason to want to go swashbuckler4+. Odd that a class fix would come in the form of a feat...:D

I like Devoted Performer, especially when combined with Initiate of Milil. A singing, smiting, charging, shiny weapon of death? Yes please.

Devoted Tracker is abused in supermount builds.

I like putting ascetic rogue and swift ambusher in the same build and concentrating on rogue.

But by far, the best stacking feat between the two books is Master Spellthief. It's not zogm good, but it's close.

I think they're pretty good. I've seen the ninja/fighter one in play, and it didn't seem broken or anything.

Here's one I made up for a character I never actually got to play:

BERSERK PERFORMER

You channel your fury into your art.
  • Prerequisites: bardic music ability, rage or frenzy ability.
  • Benefit: If you have levels in barbarian and bard, these levels stack for the purpose of determining the number of times per day that you can rage, and determining your effective bard level when using your bardic music abilities. This feat does not grant additional daily uses of your bardic music abilities beyond what your bard levels would normally allow.
  • For example, a 2nd-level barbarian/4th-level bard with this feat would be able to rage twice per day, use his bardic music abilities four times per day, and would be able to make a suggestion to a creature he has already fascinated as if he were a 6th-level bard for purposes of calculating the Will saving throw DC.
  • In addition, you are able to use the Perform skill while raging.
  • Normal: A barbarian cannot use any Charisma-based skills (except Intimidate) while raging.
