Swift Spell [Feat]

As I posted a few days ago, I really love the new swift spells in the Minatures Handbook, so I tried to create a feat that would incorporate it.

Swift Spell [Metamagic]
You can cast a spell at a moment’s notice, but the spell fades quickly.

Prereq: Spellcaster 3rd level
Benefit: A spell with a casting time of 1 standard action becomes 1 swift action, and the spell’s duration becomes 1 round. Spells with a duration of instantaneous or a timed duration of less than 1 round/level cannot be swifted. A swifted spell uses up a spell slot equal to the original spell level.
Special: Unlike quicken spell, spontaneous spells may be swifted.

I wanted the feat usuable by sorcs, hence the special line. I also made sure that spells that already have a duration of 1 round couldn’t be freely swifted. Is it too powerful, too weak? I checked through many spells in the phb and they checked out. Are there any problem spells? Should I allow concentration and permanent durations to be swifted?

I like the feat. Think I am going to steal it. I would be a little wary of allowing its use on Concentration and permanent duration spells. Concentration durations do not seem to fit flavorwise (at least to me), and as for Permanent spells...a swift Baleful Polymorph seems a little scary.

I think I suggested something similar about a year back, except my feat (a) didn't reduce the duration of the spell, and (b) increased the spell level by +2 (or add 4 PP to the cost for the psionic equivalent). The main idea behind my feat was to enable caster/fighters (and especially psychic warriors) to cast boost spells in combat without giving up a whole round's worth of attacks.

I like it, though I like my own better :)

With your version, what makes it different from quicken besides the cheaper cost really?

I also thought that maybe keeping in the concentration and permanent durations were too much, but when I actually did a brief phb scan of the spells it would be useful for, it was suprisingly narrow. I thought about allowing the spell to turn 1 round casting times to swift actions, but then summon spells as free actions (without the spell level increase) is just too much.

I had something about not being combinable with regular spellcasting or activation of magic items. So, you could cast a swiftened spell and hit someone, but not cast a swiftened and a regular spell.
