D&D 4E Switching from 4E to Pathfinder. Conversion advice?

Adventurer
Almost two years ago, we started a brand new campaign with a brand new homebrew world with 4E. We went through the first module and were on the Thunderspire adventure. Then it just fizzled away. It felt like a board/strategy game more than D&D, so we just stopped.

With tax refund time coming up, we've been interested in converting over to Pathfinder. I don't want to start fresh with a new world and new characters (again), and I want to rewrite the history of the races.

So my problem is this: I need Pathfinder versions of the 4E (not 3.5) versions of the Eladrin, Dragonborn, and Warforged. Elf might need retrofitted as well. The other races are fine and can be worked with, or haven't been used by players yet. The other race that I brought back was Rakasta, but CleverNickname did the work on that along with oodles of dino-goodies.

So what are the best translations of these races from 4E to Pathfinder? Keep in mind that I want to keep the basic flavor and function of the 4E versions.

I'm so looking forward to playing again... I just want to be prepared.

Thanks in advance!

Pf elves are fairly similar to eladrin, though I don't know how you would handle the teleport thing which is pretty strong in pathfinder mechanics for warforged using the existing conversion rules on the 3.5 version probably works. in Yvette case of both eladrin and dragonborn you need to decide on what stat the get the -2.

First and foresmost, take a look into the Paizo Boards. IIRC, a lot of people there converted most 3.5 to PF, maybe you can find what you need.

A question on warfoged: why the 3.5 version is not good?

And: take a look here. You can use these alternative racial traits to make split PF Elves in the races of Elves and Eladrins (speaking of flavour: for a version of racial traits in 4th edition, better look for conversions, as I said above).

I remember a lengthy discussion on this forum about converting the Warforged for Pathfinder. The debate ended up centering on whether or not to give them +2 to Int or leave them as-is, since the race was considered slightly stronger than normal races to begin with.

Thanks for the responses.

I think the one thing I need to do first is redefine living construct. I want them to heal naturally and still be susceptible to poison and such. Those should balance each other out. Still no need to eat, breathe, or sleep, though they need 4 hours of rest. I don't have the book in front of me, but I think that's how they are.

I have been perusing the Paizo boards and I've seen a few versions to ponder.

For a less 'magical' elf to better contrast with the eladrin I suggest this racial alternative trait from the APG:

Woodcraft: Elves know the deep secrets of the wild like no others, especially those of the forests. Elves with this racial trait gain a +1 bonus on Knowledge (nature) and Survival checks. In forest terrain, these bonuses improve to +2. This racial trait replaces the elven magic racial trait.

Nice!

Now I need a replacement power to represent the fey step for the Eladrin.

Edit: Hmmm. Even if I make it as-is and 3/day, what could it replace? All the other PF Elven Racial traits are perfect for Eladrin. Maybe it could replace the keen senses and Elven magic, since neither of those are in 4E.

For the Elf, I'd do +2 Dex, +2 Wis, -2 Con, and need a home for the Elven Accuracy replacement feature. Wild step, too.

I'd also separate the weapon proficiencies between the races.

I appreciate all the help, folks!

If you really want to keep the eladrin teleport ability, you could give them a 25 ft. dimension door SLA 3/day, and maybe take away their Keen Senses and Weapon Familiarity with bows.
