Sure, as long as you invariably face only one enemy that might try to waltz past you.I can use Goad with the reaction (which reduces the foes attacks against those spellcasters to disadvantage). Also, once I have both Sentinel and Polearm Master, I stop movement within 10 feat of me with my polearm for that reaction as well. Both are pretty darn good battlefield control.

Point is, good positioning, allies throwing up barrier spells to create choke points for said good positioning, and figuring out what might motivate a particular set of foes (or your DM) to engage you rather than the allies you're attacking, could be a lot more effective than any Reaction mechanic, with any weapon. So, if you can get there, the glaive or longsword choice can be less critical.
That, and I'd second (third?) the advice to just take Sentinel at 4th. It combines reasonably with your combat style, and will work fine with a Longsword (two-handed or S&B), and if you go back to the glaive, it'll (as you note) combine particularly well with PM, while if you commit to S&B, it has potential there, as well.
