OK, I was working on a cleric of Eilistraee and decided that there should be something similar to the War domain for her clerics given the strong connection to her favored weapon. But War isn't really appropriate. So, I searched for "Sword Domain" and found a discussion here where someone had come to the same conclusion - to make a custom sword domain. Unfortunately, no one suggested what the domain spells should be, and I'm having trouble coming up with anything.
I was thinking, to be loyal to the portfolio, that it might be better though of as a swordplay or swordwork domain that focuses on better wielding a sword or doing sword tricks instead of just anything that has "sword" in the name.
What I have so far is...
Sword Domain
Proficiency/focus in diety's favored weapon (as War)
1 Magic Weapon
2 Whirling Blade
3 Keen Edge
4 Magic Weapon, Greater
5 Weapon of the Diety
But then I draw a blank. If I want to add anything that improves martial prowess, then I can add Tenser's and possibly switch something out for Divine Power. If instead I drop the idea of swordplay and include general sword related stuff, then I can add Mordy's sword and dancing blade. Or, I can just start substituting "sword" in for other weapons in spell descriptions and get "Spellsword" and "Blacksword" instead of the spells with "staff" in the name.
Unfortunately, none of those seem quite right, and even if I do them all, I'm having trouble filling 7-9, because all of those options are mid-level spells.
