Sword & Sorcery Catalog Thoughts

My question in regards to the WoW RPG is why they think that a spell slot system is the perfect way to emulate a mana/spell point system? It's not like there are no spell point systems out there...

The Auld Grump, not that I reall understand emulating a computer RPG on the tabletop to begin with...

I've been wanting to pick up AU for awhile, but I haven't, so I'm almost certainly going to get AE.

I'm curious about WoW, but I'm going to wait and read some reviews first.

The BoRL is, of course, a must buy.

I dont' follow the Warcraft RPG or Everquest RPG, but one reason that S&SS is moving away from the standard d20 rules and publishiing the games as OGL games (If in fact that is what they're doing) might be that they want to develop more distinct RPG 'brands' that they can continue to sell after WotC releases 4th edition, and in particular if WotC don't release 4th edition as open content. THat seems to be a growing trend among the big players in the 'd20' market, and is probably a good move.

*sighs* I don't believe we'll get a 4th edition any time soon. I feel S&SS fears are unfounded. At least in the CURRENT time frame. :p

Depends on your definition of soon. In anycase, S&SS have to prepare for a multitude of possibilities.

Establishing a game line and a fan base that will remain loyal to that game line after the coming of D&D 4th edition will take time, so it might be a good idea to start now.

Of course, I could be completely off base as to why they're doing this.

I sure as heck hope I get that job at Game Daze. I'm going to need the discount to catch up to all the books I've missed and to keep up with all the good ones that are coming out!
