Naginatas don't normally detach. The blade is very similar to a sword's blade, and sometimes old swords were used to make new naginatas, but the attachment between blade and stick was intended to be permanent.
Anyway, if you wanted it to be a falchion rather than, say, a scimitar, then you should be looking at the Chinese guan dao rather than the naginata for your polearm uses.
It would still be a glaive in D&D terms.
