Swordmage-> annoying...

I don't mind since I'd pick it up as an FR book, but since it looks like I'll have to buy a book containing psionics (which I absolutely loathe) to get the druid class, I share your irritation.

I'm not. Genasi? Isn't that a brand of beer? ;) Honestly I have no clue what they are.

Elemental versions of the Aasimar and Tieflings... In 4E parlance, they'd be "Elementalborn", or perhaps "Fireborn", "Earthborn", "Waterborn", and "Airborn". :D

Frankly, I hope the Swordmage remains exclusive to this book for a while. It'll help sales. There is no sense just giving away the Swordmage when you can have people spend $29.95 for it and encourage them to give your Forgotten Realms setting a chance. Considering it is going to be the premier Organized Play setting for 4th Edition, luring people into getting it with things like the Swordmage and PC-ready Drow isn't a half-bad idea.

I have no idea. I would HOPE that it would be included in the Arcane Power sourcebook, or at least put up on the DDI.
At D&D XP, someone asked if stuff from the FR book would appear on the Rules Database. The answer was yes, which is awesome. The only question now is, how quickly will that stuff appear on the Database after it's been released in print.

I don't see anything about the drow in the official solicitation. Is this just an assumption, or is it spelled out anywhere?

Because, gee, aren't they in the Monster Manual? Why would they need anything more than that as a player character race?

Well the Drow-PC's in the MM will be less substantial then those in FR. They won't have as much fluff, nor the same number of racial feats as the PHB races.

Thus in the FR they will have more substance added to them with fluff and racial feats, etc.

I wouldn't touch anything with Forgotten Realms on its cover with a ten foot pole, no matter how many new core classes or playable races are in it.

So, obviously, I regret they decided to put the Swordmage in the book. Sounded like an interesting class.

I imagine the Swordmage will come out on DDI or a free non-subscriber download, perhaps also in PHB II.

I think one reason they put it in FR, is there is a new book-series set in the new FR based around the Swordmage. The first book is called "Swordmage".

But what if they put the listing for 10' poles in the Forgotten Realms Players Guide? Then you'd have to buy that to have a 10' pole to not touch the book with... ;)

A bigger issue would be that, if it only appears in FR, then it isn't Core, and if it isn't Core, it won't get the same level as support as the Core classes.
