Tact-Tiles Are Back - Kickstarter Now Live!

Technically, for the 6 tile set, it's $52 + $16 S&H, making them $8.66 each. But we're actually losing money on the S&H so...

That said, I understand where you are coming from. I had hoped to be able to bring the price down more, but I'm afraid that's just what Tact-Tiles cost. Manufacturing in the US is expensive, especially for relatively low-volume injection mold production. And we've got a lot of overhead weighing us down.

If we hadn't gotten the original mold from BC Products, they'd cost a lot more. :-S

Now, all that said, I believe they are well worth the price. Prior to the Kickstarter, Tact-Tiles sets were going for almost $300 on eBay!

So yeah, battle mats are cheaper, but you don't have anywhere near the same versatility you get from Tact-Tiles. As with most things, you get what you pay for.

Sorry guys - that's way too expensive a price point. More than $12 for a single tile? $65 for the basic set? There are just too many other options for that to make sense.
I agree that there are many more options that are cheaper. In that you are right... but also the materials for those mats are ALSO cheaper too. I have two large chessex brand mats (mondo mats) and they get heavily stained at the best of times with markings and I hate that. I am always trying to find ways to figure out how to get the stains off. Not to mention that I always worry if one person at my table is going to wreck them with using dry erase markers.

Then there are the Paizo flip mats which I absolutely LOVE but again they are not as durable as the Tact-Tiles too. They also have creases in them that make standing miniatures on the crease difficult and the crease can eventually come apart at the corners or even along the fold. Also the printing on the flip mats is gorgeous but limited in use for only that type of print. I have 44 of the Flip mats so I use a wide variety of prints but on the same token not nearly as much as I use my chessex mats.

So the Tact-Tiles are easy to transport. They do not stain. They are one of the most durable of gaming surfaces out there and with no staining AND they can use wet or dry erase markers. Will I give up on the other gaming surfaces.. absolutely not. But having this in my gaming arsenal is going to be awesome!!

You have 44 Flip Mats? Wow!

I have 3 of the blanks ones, 2 of which probably passed their retirement age several months ago after years of use.

I'm getting the Tact-Tiles because they allow me to do things that other battlemats (such as Flip-Mats, which I love) just can't do. Yes, they are pricey but, from all reports, they are very durable.

I got mine about a decade ago, they are fantastic. I've never regretted getting them, and I use them every session I can. I'm in on this KS because I want to see this succeed and we'd like a 2nd set as we game in two locations.

Makes plenty of sense. While it is true that a 2 yard sheet of Marine Vinyl, a permanent marker and a sheet of pegboard to make the dots 1" apart will make a functional and cheap battle mat, not everyone is looking for the rock bottom option. Some folks don't mind spending a few extra bucks to get the $10 name brand wet erase overhead markers rather than some $2 off brand children's washable markers.

And that these are made in the USA is another big plus.

I strive to keep any non wet erase markers out of the gaming chamber.
There always seems to be someone or they somehow come in the gaming room and then you get the "Oh I am SO sorry speech from someone that uses them on your mat but does not offer to replace them. Or when transporting that vinyl mat it sits in your car in that heat and or cold and it gets wrinkled or folded, and never lays flat.

This is part of the reason I LOVE the Tact-Tiles is because they are so modular and ALWAYS flat!! :) Not to mention you never need to worry about the use of wet or dry erase markers.

Most times I have accidentally used a permanent marker, using a erasable one and overwriting the permanent lets me erase them both. Will that work here?
