1) It's written by the guy who runs Goodman Games. Woo! :)

Uh, no. I'm a staff writer at Goodman Games. Joseph Goodman runs the show. I am so telling him you said this, though. ;)

2) The Chuul Nymph. There's no description of what these things look like. The name just gives me bad mental images, so I'm really curious to find out what the heck these things are.

A chuul nymph is the immature, pre-adult stage of a chuul. It's like a dragonfly nymph, and would looks kind of like this, but with crab-like pincers.

Aww... I was thinking that it was some bizarre sexy little fey-thing with tentacles coming out of its mouth and large crab-claws and...Nevermind.. *shuddervomit*

We've seen 3(?) level one adventures? With 1/month and so many for each level this Chaos Scar will take fooooreeeeeveeeeer to complete. 90 months if they have 3 adventures per level with 1 per Dungeon mag.

This is one of my HUGE bitches about 4e. Sometimes one of the adventurers gives away what a monster's supposed to look like, and some of them have pics, but I feel like a two-line "Description" in each MM entry is something that we really ought to have.

Oops. No insult to Mr Goodman. :)

Yeah, that's where my mind went too. I didn't know that dragonfly babies were called 'nymphs'; I thought they were just called 'dragonfly larva'.

I've read about them, though. They are nasty customers.

I think there is 5 level one chaos scar adventures so far, not three.

and we've mostly been getting two per month, not one. But yeah it is seemingly going to take a long time to get them all even so.

Insect young come in 2 different kinds, nymphs and larva.

Butterflies young are larva,

Dragonflies and Praying mantis young are nymphs.

Larva forms are immature and look nothing like the adult form, larva undergo a transformation where they become the adult form.

On the other hand, Nymphs are simply smaller (sometimes wingless) forms without sex organs they do not undergo a metamorphisis, they simply molt into a adult form.

So a Chuul Nymph would simply be a smaller young Chuul without sex organs, (Chuul sex organs... ewww)

And in the case of DF, the young is aquatic whereas the parent is not.

On the topic, I can see carrion crawlers having a nymph form, too. Although iI picture the nymph form not having the tentacles that the adults do - it likely either spits acid, or spits the paralysis-enducing carrion crawler slime that the tentacles produce.
