Take the HackMaster Challenge

For seven bucks, the HackMaster GMG is a good deal. Even if you don't play HackMaster (and I suggest that you try at least a few sessions of it -- it's easier than it looks), it's a great read and has several elements that are inspirational for any fantasy game.

I view it as Paranoia for the fantasy genre. You know, the good edition of Paranoia. Not the bad one.

And yeah, HackMaster can be used for serious games. There's not much that has to be disregarded. Then again, I'm the kind of guy who has run a "serious" Paranoia game. You know -- a sick kind of guy.

I'm looking forward to it because I've been considering giving it a try... and now I'll have the tools I'll need. (I've got the Player book to read already and all my old 1e and 2e monster books).

I'm not really a big fan of the way things are going with 3.5 (reserve feats and "per encounter" stuff) so giving HM a try might be the thing to do now... :)

Just another post for latecomers,to note that the deadline is now past.

Those of you who responded already should be receiving your HackMaster GameMaster's Guide within the next 1-3 weeks. :)

I just got mine today, and I'm loving what I'm seeing! :D

I haven't laughed so hard reading an RPG book in a while. I got a kick out of the chainmail bikini of eye gouging. Not to mention Carvin' Marvin. There's lots of old school goodness here too.

Plus, the Kenzer guys were nice enough to throw in a KotDT comic and a module.

So thanks to Mark and all the fine folks at Kenzer. I'm definitely going to look at your products closer and will use some of the items in this book in my games. :)

That freakin' chainmail bikini is gonna haunt me til I die.

As I recall, while I was writing up the magic item chapter, we got a piece of art for a "normal" chainmail bikini. Since it didn't look quite like what I wanted, I wrote up the new magic item based on the picture.

Now it seems to be one of those things that people either really love or really hate. :\
