Taking computer RPG material into your table-top RPG

Well, I borrowed some of the Guild Wars: Nightfall storyline and visuals for my 3e campaign. Apart from that I don't think so. Novels and movies are my main sources for inspiration.

I've used strategy game terrain generators to create maps for an area or whole worlds. That can work well. I've sometimes used game screencaps to give players an idea of what something looks like, although I've not usually used the area in the same way it is in the game except in a general sense - Omega Station is still Omega Station, but the plot line my PCs are involved in avoids plagues, vigilantes, and rogue asari.
