I think authors matter, and often produce different qualities of work and styles of work, and them always being kind of "hidden away" inside the book, so you have to carefully check the credits, is a lot less fun to me, and eliminates the "Oh it's by the guy I like!" factor unless I happen to research the book carefully. Sure if I see a name I don't like I'm less likely to buy it, but that's rare and avoids disappointment.I know it's impractical for a lot of WotC books but I liked it.</blockquote>
