Tales From Algernon's Amazing Archmagical Academy!

Clipper knows they're trying to get to Cruikshank's island home, which is just around the cape in Boulder Bay. He'll try to remember which way that is (left, right, or straight) from where they will hit the ocean. If he can't remember, he asks everyone else aboard.

Piecing your collective knowledge of the area together, you assertain that there really is only one island in Boulder Bay, and that even though it is relatively small it must be the one you're looking for. Boulder Bay is west of the academy's island, but you really don't know which way is which underwater.

"Best take this thing up to the surface and have a look around, I reckon," Jem muses, half occupied with trying to catch a small fish in one of the crab's pincers as it darts away from the cone of light projected out in front. "We could use a clue as to where we are, and where anything else is."

Judyth Longbottom : Female Half-Orc Apprentice 3

Judyth crosses her arms with a huff.

"Are we there yet? What are you guys doing up there? Are you sure you know what you are doing?"

Clipper huffs at Judyth's comments. Once outside the cave, he yanks back on the up/down lever and says, "That's it, little miss! We're pulling over. I've had enough!"

He tries to get the crab to the surface, so that they can see the moon, the island, the shore, whatever landmarks they can in order to figure out which way to go. Once they have decided the direction, he adjusts the crab so that it is pointing in that way, submerges about 30 feet, and then floors it, going in a straight line in that direction.

Heading upward, the water around you grows lighter and lighter until the crab breaks the surface of the water and floats gently on the waves. Judging from the position of the Academy, the sun, and the distant shore that outlines the bay, Clipper points the crab in what you all gather to be the right direction and, submerging to a comfortable depth, pours on the speed.

It takes a couple of hours to get into Boulder Bay, and the ride is rather uneventful and quiet (save for Kieran's snoring). The Bay is not all that large, and once you're in it you can see pretty much the whole thing from the surface. And, as you remembered, there is a single island in the middle of it, a tall, slender tower jutting up from the rocky prominences that define its edges.

You're about a half-mile away from the island now.

"Ah-ha! Excellent, my friends. We're almost there. Someone wake Kieran . . . I guess."

OOC: What time of day is it? Don't we want to sneak in at night?

Aeryl will get right next to Kieran's ear and shout "Play Ball!"
