Talislanta: Old vs. New

How much of Volumes I-V of the "Cyclopedia Talislanta" (Bard Games) is contained in the latest edition (the big blue hardcover from Shooting Iron)?

I'm not interested in game mechanics so much as source material (ideas/inspiration/etc.). I know some things changed, but I'm basically wondering if there's enough material in the old Cyclopedias that isn't in the hardcover to merit keeping them.

Thanks!

I have most of the Old Talislanta stuff. (having a long love affair with the realm and game.) I would just keep them for the source material and the pictures alone.
Unfortunatly I have not been able to get ahold of a copy of the new game.

I was in the local game shop this weekend and saw a copy on the shelf. I believe they do mail order, if you're interested:

All the Cyclopedias excepting the original unnumbered, black covered one are considered non-canon. You can certainly use the info in those books, but expect much of it to be contradicted by the information in the current edition.

Yeah, I have to put in my two cents on this. . .what a great setting and system. The new book is a real tome of considerable weight and depth. I strongly urge people to look this system up if they've yet to encounter it.

Agreed wholeheartedly. Talislanta rocks, and Tal4 rockes even harder.
