A dozen replies in and no one has made subtle/overt complaints or insults to start an edition war?

Well, I was going to complain about how they are ruining the game with 4E and it's a game for powergamers now. Clearly Talisman first edition was the only real edition of the game. Since you brought it up though, I won't.

I do own all the original expansions (wish I could say the same about Cosmic Encounter). Still, Talisman took far too long in my experience. A fun game would descend into boredom as one person ran around collecting life with the other at the Crown of Command (even with the variant endings, which always seemed to start with the Void).

I much prefered Dungeonquest where you could finish ten games in the time of one Talisman game. Who can't love a game where everyone dies horribly with no winner a noticeable amount of the time ;)

As much as I want to get this... I can't. It looks like it's exactly the same game as 2nd edition Talisman with updated graphics. I have like 3 expansions for the 2nd edition game, updated artwork is not going to get me to go back to vanilla. :-/

We would never do that. Ever. Never.
What I'm amazed about is that no one has yet taken anything in this thread out of its original context, when it is so easy to do...

Yeah. I've been following the development of 4e for a while now. There will be a few copies at GenCon.

It's basically Talisman 2e, with better artwork,...

I don't know about that. It's got better artwork than 3e, but I don't know if I'd say it has better artwork than 2e. Of course, I'm a grognard that has come to associate Talisman with the 2e British style of art. What I saw in the trailer was what passes as standard fantasy art these days. Don't get me wrong, the art is good, but seems to lack anything that would seem to give the game it's own style.
