Talk about your Eberron character concepts

Magewrights are the new NPC class for DMs... Do you mean the new PC Class Artificer?

I like artificers, too. But no, I meant magewright, which is what ConnorSB said.

Such a cool idea...poorly suited for adventuring, true, but that can sometimes be a character hook in itself.

So I'm going to try and figure out how to create a neuter organism that's also a complete slut. Not sure how it'll work.

If you've ever seen Tripping the Rift you'll know what I mean when I say "you just need the right attachment" ;)

Kryton rather.
Now, Red Dwarf is exactly the example of how NOT to set up an adventuring party. None of them want to have anything to do with one another, they're boring (so boring it's funny) and all have the skills and planning of one of Lister's Vindaloo dishes.

We were somewhere along the lonely desert, 100 miles outside of Sharn, when the dreamweed begand to take hold. I remember saying something like "I feel a bit lighttheaded; maybe you should drive..." And suddenly there was a terrible roar all around us and the sky was full of what looked like dire bats, all swooping and screeching and driving around the carriage, which was going about 20 miles an hour with an open top to Sharn. And a voice was screaming: "Holy Jesus! What are these goddamn animals!"

Then it was quiet again. My rogue had taken his shirt off and was pouring mead on his chest, to facilitate the tanning process. "What the hell are you yelling about?" he muttered, staring up at the sun with his eyes closed and covered with wraparound glasses of sun protection. "Never mind," I said. It's your turn to drive." I pulled back on the reigns and aimed Red towards the edge of the road. No point mentioning those dire bats, I thought. The poor half-orc will see them soon enough.

Fear and Loathing in Eberron? I do like the use of the word 'rogue' as a substitute for 'lawyer'. The terms are practically equivalent, after all.

2. A were-horse. He would be horrified at the Lycanthrope Purge, and as a member of the Church of the Silver Flame, he would feel guilty by association. Having a lycanthrope mount would be his way of making a quiet protest against and atonement for that policy.

The first would be easier and require less tweaking of the rules, though.

However, if you used a feat for Leadership, and had a high enough Charisma, said werehorse could take monk levels. That'd be one fast mount!

Well, the first thought I had for a character was a Warforged Druid. An artifical person made by man in defense of the wild just has such appeal. I'd have to wonder though if being partly metal would violate the druidic oath.
According to the book, there's no problem using the basic "composite plating" for either druids or monks (wizards and sorcerers have a slight problem, since it has a 5 or 10% ASF). Getting the Mithral or Adamantine Body feats is a no-no, however, because then you're considered to be wearing Light/Heavy armor made of metal.

:D Were-valenar riding horse monk (base speed 80 ft. before monk enhancements).

Another reason to go dungeon-crawling in Xen'drik.

Ahem...
Now onto my idea;
The Half-Elven Spider.
Yes, the Half-Elven Spider. Can you sense where I'm going?

4th level Psychic Warrior, Expanded Knowledge and Up the Walls feats.

Dorje of Ensnaring Ectoplasm.

Located in Sharn, Alter Ego attends Morgrave University and works for the Sunset Clarion broadsheet.

:D I could go on.

I've been thinking a little bit about the "swashbucking" end of things and playing a duelist in Eberron.

One could easily imagine a big city like Sharn as the home of numerous fencing schools...with rivalries between different fencing masters, and easily-offended nobles demanding satisfaction.

I wonder, though...would it make sense to assume that the rapier isn't quite as ubiquitous as in other swashbuckling settings? In a world where so many big things still need killing, and where the Last War just ended, I assume that a wider variety of weapons are taught at fencing schools.
