Taming the Taman-Busuk game thread: Outpost 1

That's better Kell. The knight nods approvingly at his improved statement. Appearance isn't everything about being a soldier, it's also how you present and conduct yourself. Looks of course have a tendency to deceive, that's why we're here. Now we have official documents indicating that you each are under my direct command. That is something each of you should keep in mind. If any officer there isn't who they claim to be, they may try to give you unusual orders or orders that contradict my own. In all cases, as your immediate superior, my orders take precedence. Understood?

Kell steps forward, absently strumming his bowstring with his thumb.

"Sir, we're posing as replacements, correct? We're not supposed to reveal our true purpose here. But we don't look like a normal bunch of soldiers to me. Quite the opposite, actually. What's our cover story?"

Kell speaks with his head down and his eyes on the floor. His voice's volume is barely above a whisper.
Myst smiles and pats Thunder soothing as she leans down to whisper into his ear, "Don't worry big boy, I am sure he wasn't talking about you..."

"Yes Sir," Says Myst as she nods smartly. "Sir, is there anything besides the obvious that we should keep an eye out for?"

Gorash Stonebless

Ohh … arrogant Solamnic knight.
Gorash thinks angrily to himself.
I'll place his raising human head between my anvil and my hammer.
It's not enough that it's hot and he is walking because he hates horses while the others are riding, this human and the kender are making him angry

Yeblin attentions start to wane and his looks start to carry on the surrouding that he had already looked at the day before.

Big guys. They always prefer to talk rather than travel. They don't know the fun of life.

Yes, watch how your fellows respond to, take or even give orders. Deregan says. Spies may not at once recognize certain commands and what they mean. For example, I may tell someone to "make it so" once a course of action is decided upon. A dragonarmy veteran may not be accustomed to such a command and may look puzzled. In the same vein, someone with the appearance of a seasoned officer who takes to vulgar speech or appearance may not be what he seems.

All in all though, trust your instincts. Part of the reason I assembled this group is because you all have various unique points of view, outlooks on life that differ from someone raised and trained in the knighthood. Your objectiveness in your view of the situation will be key to the success of this mission.

Deregan loads his saddle on his horse. Well, we should get moving. Anything further, we can discuss on the move.

By midmorning you can spot the outer wall of the outpost. Watchtowers peek over the wall at regular intervals, and all along the wall pennants flap in the slight breeze. As you draw closer you see the gate is open and the pennants are green in color. Your group is stopped at the gate by two guardsmen. One speaks,

Greetings sir knight, and welcome to the western outpost. May I ask what business you have?

My men and women at arms have been assigned to this outposts defense force. We have our paperwork here to that effect.

The guard who spoke looks it over and signs it. This will need to be signed by the commander as well. He will wish for you to report to him at once.

Very well, you men will help mine get squared away?

Yes sir!
Yes sir!

Very well, company fall in! These men will show you about the outpost, help you get settled. I'll report to our commander. Dismissed!

The first guard steps up and salutes. Welcome aboard the defense force. My name's Tanner, this is Ulricsohn. The other nods his greeting. Before we start the 5-gold tour, do you have any questions for us?

"Hi!" says a little voice in the middle of the group. A hand is waving over the dwarves head. he moves around him and come foward. "My name is Yeblin Fruitthrow. The dwarf there is Gorash. Don't bother about the look, behind his beard is a nice companion, but you should keep an eye on him, he is losing his things easily, a bit too distract. That's big fella is Kinan. He is an half-ogre but he is quite fine. The shy guy there is Kell. A good hunter but he has some problem with his voice, maybe you have some hot soup to help him, or I can make some. Did I told you I was a cook. I do great meals. That elf is a wizard, but she is a bit dull, she rarely use any magic at all. And that girl is Myst. She will be a great knight, I have seen her in combat. She look like as many other knight, a bit boring but a good warrior. She will help, as I suppose you see a lot of combat here. Is there many combat here. I've fought some goblin once, it was when the commander of the dragonarmy ate my super explosive chicken. The secret of that meal, it is the pepper. I have some with me, if you want, I can make you some. But that hobgoblin didn't liked it... I don't know why. You should have seen it, he has made the best face I ever seen after he ate that meal. The three goblin that was there jump on me. I had to knock one with my frying pan and the other two was blinded when the pepper container was drop in the melee and they had some in there eyes. I had some too. It is not very funny to have some pepper in the eyes, but it is more to see those goblin having some. I finally fall in a trap and lands in the sewers' water. It's too sad I lost my cooking ware at that time, but I had the chance to find a new one since that time..."
