Well - Its a very lowmagic world - So i will prob Never really have access to anything over +1 or 2 at lvl 20 - So defensive Class abilities become more important.

Knight Protector, for a low-magic world.

Devoted Defender would have been perfect, but I haven't seen it in any 3.5 source.

cheers,

There is the Stalwart Defender from Mercenaries (AEG). It has some tough requirements but grant increased hp, natural armor and other stuff.

Roll with It (feat) from Savage Species will help you last a long time. Combat Expertise and Superior Expertise are helpful to raise your AC.

Plot & Poison from Green Ronin has the Double Shielding feat that allows you to use two shields and get AC bonuses from both. Take Improved Shield Bash and you can attack with one while getting AC from both.

Another PrC is the Ironbound from Hammer & Helm (Green Ronin) that allows you to wear exotic armors and grant the character bonuses.

Why Knight Protector - I agree its a Cool class - But Thier "defensive Stance" Gives Your AC to another - that Hurts your tanking ability.

People around you get Bonuses to save vs Fear - you get More AoO's - Abilty to attack somone if they kill/knock a ally unconscious.

Its a Cool Class - But Im not sure i Would consider it a good Tanking class.

The hardest part of tanking is making sure the weaker party members don't get maimed.

If you can't keep it off 'em, you can at least protect them. And if it goes after you, well, then it's hammering on the tank and is going to lose the fight.

best,

Carpe

That brings up another good point - How do you keep mobs attacking you and not wondering off to pound on other members of the party?

That brings up another point ..

How do you keep a Mob focused on you - and not have him wonder off to reak havoc on the rest of the party?

I really like this PrC. I've used it on two player characters now.

Use the feat "goad" from complete warrior. Sure you need to have 13 charisma, but it is just so worth it.
