I meant for Tannhäuser. I could use the SRD but I don't like d20 all that much.

Me, I'd use FATE (free version of SotC) if I had to go with something free.

You could also check out Nemesis, the Cthulhu-themed version of Greg Stolze's ORE system (as seen in Reign, Wild Talents, and Godlike).

It's a craptacular scan, though. Still, it does the job.

That *does* look interesting. My normally D&D-centric group has been on a D&D-boardgame* kick lately with the birth of a new child.

* - You know: Descent, Doom, Runebound, etc.

yup, downloaded and printed out. I'll read it over multiple times before I pick up the game.

As for rpg I'm going with True20 I picked up on free rpg day with elements of the modern srd.
