Tarrasque, where did it come from?

D&D Tarrasque vs. "Real Myth" Tarasque:
Tarrasque got an extra 'r'.
Tarrasque is immune to nigh everything, Tarasque was killed by commoners hurling stones and spears.
Tarrasque is unintelligent and unable of communication, Tarasque was converted to christianism after discussing metaphysical matters with a saint woman.
Tarrasque is a magical beast, Tarasque was a Dragon.
Tarrasque looks like nothing at all, Tarasque looked like a sort of turtle with two incomplete shells (one on each side).
Tarrasque dwell anywhere, Tarasque was mainly aquatic.
Tarrasque is genderless and unique, Tarasque was female.
Do an internet search on "tarasque" (with only one 'r') and you should find much, muchy more, including several pics.
A dragon with a similart fate to Tarasque was Gargouille, who was located in the Seine, in Paris. Gargouille inspired the creature that are called gargouille in French, gargoyle in English.
