Tarzan is too bland for today's audience?

Naked and living in a barrel
No problem, just avatar it by adding Red Unobtainium! And a giant tentacle monster?

Ironically, we've never seen a movie with all the way-out fantastical elements the actual Tarzan stories have in them. Atlantis, dinosaurs, beast-men, the Valley of Diamonds, the ant-men, Crusaders, Romans, the land at the Earth's Core, a mad scientist with talking gorillas, and a race of telepaths. From the trailer, it actually looks more like a typical Tarzan story than the stuff we're used to.

Yuck. Looks like a bad video game.

Disney Tarzan was probably better than this will be.
Sad, but Greystoke is probably the truest movie to the book than any other version.

Agreed on Greystoke being the truest adaption but I'll also acknowledge that although kiddified the Disney version was respectful of the source material (except for Tantor:().

The trailer looks okay although I don't like the addition of the unobtabium - surely the Jewels of Opar would have served just as well. Infact combining the arc of Tarzan the Untamed (with mercenaries rather than Huns) to The Golden Lion might have made for a good movie series that would appeal to modern audiences...

For the most part, the Disney version was pretty good about adapting the story, while at the same time correcting ERB's misconceptions about Gorillas (well, he was a product of his era).
I only read the first book. My brother subscribed to a sci-fi book of the month club, but never read any of them. I have some 250 or more books left to read. Nice leather-bound copies. Tarzan: Lord Of The Apes was one of them.

Yeah, shoddy CG and snagging everything they can from other successful sources.

[sabrinathecat;6226881]Disney Tarzan was probably better than this will be.[/QUOTE]Agree. Disney already wins on visual quality and actor quality. Writing quality is looking like a safe bet too.
