Tattoo Magic

I vaguely remember reading something about this, but can't remember where.

Is this an actual 3.5 thing? Anyone got the skinny?

There is an alternative for a spellbook in Complete Arcane (page 187) that is based on tattoos.

There is also a the spell Create magic tattoo in the Spell Compendium.

I think the FR setting has some specific rules on magical tattoos? I could be wrong...

I've always thought that Incarnum would make cool tattoo magic...

The Scared Land setting had Tattoo magic. IIRC, Relics and Rituals I & II had the details, but it may have been in the main setting book.

The Scarred Lands setting did indeed have tattoo magic. It's detailed in both Relics and Rituals I and II, as well as some more in Burok Torn and I think Hornsaw sourcebooks, maybe in the Player's Guide to Wizards, Bards and Sorcerers.

Also, there was a Dragon Magazine sidebar that described a magic tattoo feat. I don't remember the issue, but it was essentially a variant of Brew Potion.
