[Tavern Thread] The Dunn Wright Inn

Charity, Human Female
After several new entries come trundling into the Inn, the young Venzan woman in the poet's shirt nods to Master Aschwin Shrike. "It seems you are 'saved by the bell', so to speak." She gives him a pat on the shoulder and stands up. "Just the same, let me get you and Qalabash a drink. I'll be right back."

A couple moments Charity returns to the table with her friends and sits down, one drink in each of her hands. "Perhaps someone in sufficiently good mood will come around. Until then, please, enjoy." With that, she pushes the drinks to those at the table and leans back. "Some come here with heavy hearts," Charity observes, eyes resting on the tall whiskey-drinking woman from Rorn. Turning back to the group, she concludes, "All to common, sadly."

Any further musings are cut off by the odd painted man as he throws his cloak off, grabbing the young woman's attention but eliciting no particular response.

He left the barstool to go elsewhere in the tavern.

A large wolf

~In the Common Area~
Most people in the inn had finally gotten used to the appearance of the strangely dressed man , when the door creaked open. A large wolf, almost as tall as the halfing sitting on the bar, walks in, sniffing around the area. Those closest to the door could hear the tell tail sign of sniffing, as though the wolf was tracking something.

The wolf started at the loin cloth man, and growled, but when the man did not flinch the wolf seemed to ignore him as well. Sniffing the ground more, the large creature heads over to where Charity, Qalabash, and Shrike were sitting, and sniffs the spot where the man named Aradra was moments before. The wolf stops sniffing to look at the 3 in turn, it's head tiled to one side.

Addressing the new halfling traveler, "Well hullo chap! You speak truly, as in my latest encounter with a halfling was with a fine lass before my latest excursion." Francis swirls around the purply liquor in his glass, and then throws it back like he has done this before. "Didn't catch your name, friend. Me name's Francis John, Francis John the Third. Prince of all halflings! Aha!" He cordially extends his hand. As the hands meet, he turns his head to see the strangely painted man enter the tavern. "That's something I guess you only see in big cities." He chugs down the second glass of Brandy.

Largely ignoring the site, he continues his conversation. "What parts are you from? I hail from Roughy River, much south of here." This question is interrupted by the entrance of a wolf into the tavern. "Amazing how nobody bats an eye at this sort of thing. This is justifiably a truly remarkable establishment. Cheers!" Francis knocks back his final drink. "Groggo my friend, two 'Halfling on Fire' shooters for my mate and I, on the double! Then you can fill me in on all those contraptions, rigs, and machinations you were talking about..."

Charity looks at the wolf quizzically, then her eyes light up. "Oh... this guy here... was with Aradra the first time I saw him." The woman is not reeling away as might be the norm for a large wild animal, but still shows some caution. "Think if I just led him over to the back room he'd understand?" she asks of the table, thinking about what to do next. "Doesn't seem to be the talking sort...."

Not looking up from his papers, Devlin extends a hand to his fellow Halfling.
"The names Devlin my friend. I hail from Copperhead which is quite some ways from here. It is a pleasure to meet the Prince of Halflings. Growing up among the dwarves they never mentioned such a title, but based on your grand appearance I could see how the title could be true." Finally looking up from papers he begins to look his new friend over with a smile. After receiving the delicious beverage he lifts it to him in thanks,"Cheers good sir."

Just as Devlin is raising the glass to his lips the painted man enters the room. A slight grunt and trickle of drink can be seen coming from his nose as he holds in a snicker.
"My, you are correct. That is not something one sees every day."

The wolf raises a little more of an eye brow from Devlin as he enters the building. Devlin hops down off the stool forgetting his book and drink and begins heading towards the animal with great grin on his face. "OH my, I wonder if this one talks as well!" he says excitedly waiting for the wolf to say something snarky and smart, much like the cat he had once had the privilege of speaking to in this very same inn. With a snarl the wolf gives a look at Devlin which is more than enough to convince the little one that he is not going to get much conversation out of this one.

Back at the bar he sits down again and begin conversing with Francis John about he most recent adventure Returning to Boar's Ridge and of the amazing creature they found inside.

Qalabash Baram

Qalabash's eyes alight as patron after patron enters the Dunn Wright Inn filling the bar and tables, each of more experience in the trade than himself. He has to raise his voice to be heard by Charity and Aschwin Shrike.

"Perhaps our contest of indignity should be put on hold, tabled, saved for a time when one can hear one's self think, eh? Not that I object to exposing myself to all these people... Hmm. That didn't sound quite the way I intended." He chuckles but the sound cuts off abruptly when the multi-colored man enters and sheds clothes down to his skivvies. "Ah, speaking of over-exposed..." Again he trails off as the large wolf enters the inn and makes a beeline straight to where they are seated. He freezes as the wolf sniffs around them.

"It is worth an attempt, Charity. He doesn't seem particularly hungry which I would count a good thing. Nevertheless, I am not accustomed to sharing table with wild beasts unless you count half-orcs."

Yosephus Errol Smithe, Cleric of Amenthia, the Healing Hand

A rather tall man comes into the inn. At first he appears human but certain features are just not right. For one his grey hair is so silvery you would almost guess that it was made of silver. His green eyes almost sparkle as if made of emeralds. His tan skin likewise seems to be almost made of spun gold. Indeed after a closer inspection these odd additions to a first impression belies his true heritage of aasimar.

A Human of fair skin and red hair the color of flames enters the inn, giving the strange man partially blocking the door a long look of incredulity. He shakes his head and enters, a darkwood quarterstaff in his left hand.

"Marla, my dear. frog legs and mulled wine if you please." There is a thick accent of olde Ladellion. He sits at the fire place seeming to be cold, and as he does so, the flames change from a glowing ember to a cheerful flame, almost seeming to have a face within. Heinrich smiles and starts chatting to the flames, if one knows ignan they can follow the conversation as one of two friends getting re-acquainted.

"Yes master." says Marla flatly. She tosses her hair in a half hearted effort of flirting. She turns away with an eye roll that goes so far she probably can see her brain. A short while later she returns with a plate heaped with steaming freshly cooked frog legs, A specialty of Chef Zitteroui. Grog sets the goblet of spiced wine that is delivered soon after.

After a while Heinrich looks around to see see, or what, is in the Inn besides the odd looking man in the doorway. He sees the red haired woman warrior and those at her table, raising his goblet in toast to them.

(Aradra's?) Large Wolf

~In the Common Area~

As Delvin approaches, the wolf's mouth curls up into a snarl, and a low growl does emit from his mouth. However, it appears more as a reflex to being suddenly approached by the unknown halfing, as the wolf's teeth were not fully exposed. Once the halfing backed down the wolf stopped growling almost immediately. It never said a single word, so this wolf was not the "talking" sort Delvin was hoping for.

However, it was when Charity said Aradra's name that the wolf's ears flapped once, and turned it's attention back to the red haired girl. It appears that the wolf seemed to recognize the name, and was now paying closer attention to her. It turns it's head once the other red haired man appears, but seeing that it was not Aradra, it returned it's attention back to the current table of Charity, Qalabash, and Aschwin.
