Agreed. Attending seems rather crucial to the initiation process. But I suppose alternate initiation procedures could be devised... assuming the founders could aggree on something suitably rapscallionish.

And Rel, a CM vote decided that my primary costume this year will be a replica of Arwen's Coronation gown from RotK. Sorry to dissapoint, giesh, raw chainmail would chafe something awful.
