In Pets & Sidekicks, your heroic companions--whether beast, monster, or NPC--level up with you and gain heroic features. Heroic features are more powerful abilities designed to ensure your companion remains effective as you yourself level up. Pets & Sidekicks contains dozens of these features, and each heroic companion in the book, from tigers to pseudodragons to bards to goblins, also has it's own set of heroic features unique to that monster or NPCs.
However, there is another category of abilities available to pets with an Intelligence score of 4 or lower. These are pet tricks, and they allow you to train your pet to do useful activities. There are 13 pet tricks--Comfort, Communicate, Forage, Guard, Herd, Hunt, Labor, Manipulate, Perform, Retrieve, Scout, Steed, and Track. Here's a look at the first few!
