Tell me about the new Warcraft d20

is it any good? Should I buy the new edition? Is it compatible with the old books? ie. monster book.

I have the PDF. I can say the following:

I think the artwork AND the overall feel of the book is very well done.

I think if you want to update your characters to closely emulate the new "world" of Warcraft, this is certainly the way to go.

It is compatible but there are some changes as well. My advice, download the free update PDF from WW's site. You'll be fine from there.

The new book is done with the OGL, not the d20 STL, right?

Yes as far as I can tell John. The modifications, done in the previous edition, still remain ie: mana as spellcasting for starters.

cool I didn't know there was a PDF. I can save about $16 this way (if I buy it). I flipped thru it at my LGS and it looked more like the video game. I have the original so what I'm hearing you say is that there isn't a HUGE reason to buy it (just if I want to have the video game feel). The original felt a bit more overpowered than standard D&D. Does this new book keep that same feel?

Yeah somewhat. I believe there are still racial restrictions but paladin is now a core class along with Warlock.

My point is Warcraft WAS and IS about being more than D&D tropes. It's about generating a Video game feel for table top.

The PDF, I believe, doesn't cost as much since WW/DTRPG.com does reduce prices for doing both watermarked and I believe some DTR imprints of its books. So if you don't mind buying it for say about 15% less, you'll be in luck.
