Tell me about the Warcraft RPG

Lobo Lurker

First Post
So, being that I've recently gotten into World of Warcraft online, tell me about the Warcraft RPG. Is there anything specific you like about it? Have you found that your play experience is different from normal DnD? How so?

Any does anyone know when the World of Warcraft RPG is coming out? Will it be produced by the same people that did the Warcraft RPG?

Thanks for your time. :)

I can heartily recommend the books. They are rather light hearted in tone, and full of fun stuff. I have the basic book, Alliance & Horde, and Magic & Mayhem. Each one has great fluff and useful crunch.

I haven't played a game in it yet, though, and I have to be honest, I don't know that I will. Although it is a solid setting, I think the tone is just a little too light. I bought the books more for reading material than anything else, and wasn't disappointed. However, I think they will join my legions of books that take up shelf space without getting used. That might very well change once I get broadband and WOW ;).

Hmm, thanks. :)

You know that you can play WoW using a dial-up right? I play on US servers and I'm down in Costa Rica. My Broadband is only 64k up/128k down (my download speed rarely exceeds 9k/second) and the game plays just fine.

Anyone else use the books to actually play?

Hehe, I normally connect at 46-48k and get knocked offline constantly, so I think I will wait before investing.

Lobo Lurker, you might want to try http://www.warcraftrpg.com/ forums for info on the new system. So far it sounds like you can use all your old books except for the Warcraft campaign book. The last two White Wolf Quarterlys had info on the Night Elves, Forsaken and the Paladin class. I guess for some of the races they can take classes in their race to gain more abilites. The revised book is set to come out in May I think I read.

I'm looking foward to it since I play WoW as well.

I've been a big fan of the warcraft books since they started comming out; its one of the few official settings I would ever consider running (as opposed to my homebrew).

One of the best things about the books is how flavorful they are. The spells and magic items seem a whole lot more interesting then the generic ones from the core set.

I dig the warcraft books. One of the better recent settings.

One point of caution: there are coming out with a new stand alone World of Warcraft core book, though it is supposed to work with the existing books.

Thanks everyone. ^_^ I downloaded the quarterly last night and the Paladin and Foresaken look great. I hope the rest of the book is similar (WoW RPG).

If anyone's looking to pick this up, I duplicates of the first three books in a promo contest. I'll gladly give them to anyone who can pay shipping.
