I'd like to hear about any successful prehistoric campaigns you've run or played in. What were they like?

I've run a series of one shots back in the early 80's, set in the ice age thanks to an old Dragon Mag article called Thrills & Chills: Ice Age Adventures, it can be found in issue 68. I remember them being a lot of fun for me as the DM and most of the players enjoyed it b/c it was really all about lets go kill us a mammoth or the like for food, there wasn't any money, magical items, or stuff like that to worry about, and when the players weren't being killed by the food they were trying to kill, they were out raiding other clans for the magic of fire. The games were very influenced by the Clan of the Cave Bear (books), and Quest for Fire (movie). I remember keeping it very grounded in reality for some reason early on (especially since I was 12-14, it should've gotten very ERB quicker than it did) and gradually introducing the various demi-human races, and other elements from the aforementioned ERB.
