Last session, I put a pair of magical gloves out as treasure. I did not allow the wizard to detect what they were, outside of the fact that they were magical.
Being one to never let a "mystery" go unsolved, the halfing/rogue bravely(foolishly?) donned the gloves. They immediately bonded to his hands and gave him claws.
I look at him and say tell me what you see....then I tell the guy next to him to do the same...all around the table 5 players and myself. It was extremely interesting as most of them saw something different.
The player described more beast like hands. Someone else went more bear like. Another saw his fingers melding together and elongating giving him three long, claw like fingers. etc.
It was really interesting to see them all work to describe what they envisioned.
