Template help - Half Mind Flayer or a Mind Flayer Template

actually it doesnt. Im sorry. I dont want the whole 'tentacle' thing. As i said, no one (cept maybe dragons and elves) remember when the Olde Gods ruled the lands and Mind Flayers walked the surface.

I did create this:

Illithilidkin Template

Illithilidkin is a template that can be added to any corporeal creature (referred to hereafter as the "base creature").
The base creature's type changes to "aberration."
It uses all the base creature's statistics and special abilities except as noted below.

AC: Natural armor improves by +1.

An Illithilidkin has 1d4+1 nubs around its mouth. These are supposed to be tentacles but they will never develop.

Special Attacks: An Illithilidkin retains all the special attacks of the base creature and also gain:

An Illithilidkin with Intelligence score of 10 or higher possess:

Mind Blast (Sp): This attack is a cone 30 feet long. Anyone caught in this cone must succeed at a Will save (DC 13 +Intelligence Modifier) or be stunned for 3d4 rounds.

An Illithilidkin with an Intelligence or Wisdom, or Charisma score of 16 or higher possess:
Psionics (Sp): At will-These abilities are as the spells cast by a sorcerer equal to their level/HD.

HD.... Abilities
----... ----------
1-3.... levitate
4...... detect thoughts
5...... suggestion
6...... charm monster

Special Qualities: An Illithilidkin has all the special qualities of the base creature, and gains:

SR/PR 5+1/HD

An Illithilidkin with Intelligence score of 10 or higher possess:

Telepathy (Su): Illithilidkin can communicate telepathically with any creature within 50 feet that has a language.

Saves: Same as the base creature

Abilities: Choose two: Str +1, Dex +2, Con +1, Int +4, Wis +3, Cha +3

Skills: An Illithilidkin has 6 skill points times its Intelligence modifier, per Hit Die. Treat skills from the base creature's list as class skills and other skills as cross-class. If the creature has a class, it gains skills for class levels normally.

Feats: Illitheidkin have one feat for every four levels or the base creature's total of feats, whichever is greater.

Climate/Terrain: Same as either the base creature
Organization: Same as the base creature
Challenge Rating: Same as the base creature +2
Alignment: Usually any lawful or any evil.
Treasure: Same as the base creature
Advancement: Same as the base creature

Hey, Myth, you're only making that CR +1?

That's basicly making an Illithid anything else. You're giving it almost everything an Illithid has, as long as it has the prereqs, as well as all the stuff from the base creature. For just a +1 CR. Now, Illithids are CR 8... That's a Tad powerful, for such a low price.

Edit: Angel, good job!

Illithids are CR8 8HD and have very good stats.
There no stat bonus in mine, it could go up to CR+2 but no higher.

But you're giving the templated creature basicly all the abilities of an illithid. That's like a half-dragon template giving smaller ability adjustments, but giving blindsight, fully giving wings, spell like abilities, and an upscaling breathweapon.

My point is, these things are much more powerful then your base illithid, if used.
