Temporary Hit Points & Negative Hit Points

Here's a question that came up last night in a game we played that I couldn't find an answer to.

I know that Temporary hit points are a seperate "pool" from regular hit points. How do the two interact if regular hit points are at a negative?

We had a character at -10 hp, a warlord triggered their daily power (Bastion of Defense I believe) that granted temp hp to allies within a certain radius. Does this mean that the dying ally is suddenly revived while their temporary hp last? If they are do they still have to make dying saves on account of their hp being in the negative?

Thanks!

pg 294 PH: if your current hps are 0, you still have 0 when you receive temp hps.

So with negative hps they are still unconscious.
