Shelly is not doing any 4E fans a favour by making out that the game rules should revolve around her rather than her in any way adapting to the game rules :s
Oh please. I've seen any number of claims, even here, that if 5E has any elements of 4E in it, that's a dealbreaker.

Of course your feedback will depend on your preferences. You shouldn't be providing feedback based on what you think other people would think about something. Or not mentioning something you disliked because you could work around it somehow. That's not the point of playtesting.

And you're ignoring the positive comments she made, of course.

Hiya.

Amusing read. Somewhat entertaining at any rate.

However...

The bottom line is, while I hope WotC listens to her and others like her, I hope they listen with the same weight to the others who pretty much see and play the game completely opposite to her style. In other words, listen to those that like the 'vancian' fire-and-forget type spellcasting, for example.

I can only assume they are doing that...otherwise they'd just be outright lying about trying to make a game that can be played by "all edition lovers". I mean, WotC never lies about stuff like that, right?

Yes. That's what I think is the most enlightening part of the article: HOW to submit your feedback. Certainly, Shelly is not the typical D&D player, but that doesn't mean she can't or shouldn't get her voice heard. Same thing with us: don't like something, tell them about it! Don't complain that other people disagree with you...

It was pretty good. And certainly felt a little more relevant then some of her stuff in recent months.

As for the some of the initial reactions here...it would be strange if we all had exactly the same preferences...and hers are certainly inline with many players I have known over the years, even back in the "old days".

It sounds to me like an act. Like a clown hamming it up.

Shelly is a successful professional writer. Who writes about rpgs. There's no way she's as clueless as she's making herself out to be.

Yep. Shelly regularly hams things up, exaggerates, embellishes, and takes her commentary to extremes to provide an entertaining read.

She tells a story, one that isn't necessarily picture-perfect accurate, but is, instead, intended to be entertaining and diverting.

Don't flip out, guys and gals.
