Tests and Trials (Manzanita Judging)

Devlin Magruder, human rogue 3

"Well, it's nice to know the aren't going to tear us to pieces. Do you think they'll let us participate in this ritual, or just sit back and observe?"

Malen, Dwarf Wiz1

"Bah! I don't like the sound of any of it. The boy's lied to us, and for all we know these four legged mops lie as well."

[sblock]OOC: If possible, and if there is any sort of warning/build up, Malen is going to surreptitiously cast Detect Magic during this ritual, specifically looking for magical signatures including power level and school of magic. Every little bit of information about this Master that we can find will help.[/sblock]

Luthiel Faradar Elven Rogue1

"Well, they seem to think of themselves as honorable- and if they are, we can probably count on them to be straightforward with us, though probably lacking in intelligence as so many 'honorable' folk seem to be," Luthiel grimaces. He turns to Devlin and says "I've no idea what part we'll play in the ritual, beyond that I know we are expected to make a fire for the occasion."
Next he talks for a moment with Cryndo. "What do you think, Cryndo? All this stuff sounds rather mystical to me, and that's where you know more than the rest of us, I'd assume. Is this like anything you've ever heard of before?"

Devlin Magruder, human rogue 3

After gathering the wood for the fire, Devlin looks around at the rest of the group. "Umm, did anyone bring flint & steel? I left mine back at the campsite."

Luthiel Faradar Elven Rogue1

"Even better, I have a few tindertwigs." Luthiel turns to look for the leader of the wolves, and gives him a questioning look. Though he knows the wolf cannot understand him, he asks "Is it time to light the fire yet?"

Cryndo replies that he believes in none of this hairbrained heathen religion, and that it is blasphemous for one such as this 'Master' to assume the place of the greatest of the true gods in the minds and hearts of this backwards culture.

The wolf gives Luthiel a cold stare in response. The day is still young, only just past noon. The wolf mentioned earlier that the ritual would not begin until evening. When the time to light the fire comes, the group probably won't be able to miss it.

[sblock]OOG: Sorry guys, RL is catching up to me. I'll have something real for you on Saturday.[/sblock]

Oops, missed that :o

Devlin Magruder, human rogue 3

"Well, looks like we wait til nightfall. At least these wolves are more hospitible than the old man and his apprentice." Devlin takes a seat in the grass on the outskirts in the clearing, picks up a piece of deadwood, draws his dagger, and begins idly carving.
